Caring

How will a person act who is genuinely caring? Look in Luke 14:13, 14, NIV. "But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

Does God expect me to be caring to the sick and suffering? Find the answer in the Bible in Galatians 4:14, NIV. "Even though my illness was a trial to you, you did not treat me with contempt or scorn. Instead, you welcomed me as if I were an angel of God, as if I were Christ Jesus himself." This was how the people treated Paul. What an example of caring for the sick and suffering. Of course, there is always the perfect example of Jesus caring for the lepers, blind, sick, and demon possessed.

Caring for others involves our attitudes about others as well. Look in the Bible in Philippians 2:3-4, TLV. "Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don’t just think about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and in what they are doing."

When caring for others, we are caring for the Lord. You’ll find it in the Bible in Matthew 25:40, NIV. "The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

Some have been given a special ability to care for others. See it in Ephesians 4:11, TLB. "Some of us have been given special ability as apostles; to others he has given the gift of being able to preach well; some have special ability in winning people to Christ, helping them to trust him as their Savior; still others have a gift for caring for God’s people as a shepherd does his sheep, leading and teaching them in the ways of God."

God regards any act of kindness you do for others as a personal favor done for Him. Matthew 25:40, ML. Jesus said, "I assure you, insofar as you have done it to one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you have done it to Me." For the complete picture, read Matthew 25:31-45.
