God

If you were drawing a picture of God, what would He look like? If you were describing Him to someone, what would you say? It may be hard to draw or describe someone you’ve never met. Hopefully you will learn more about Him as we go to the Bible, the best book of all.

Who is God? It’s in the Bible, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom” (Isaiah 40:28, NIV). God is the Creator, the One who made heaven and earth—and who made you.

What God is like? The Bible says, “I am Jehovah, the merciful and gracious God . . . slow to anger and rich in steadfast love and truth. I, Jehovah, show this steadfast love to many thousands by forgiving their sins” (Exodus 34:6, TLB).

What one word best describes God? It’s in the Bible, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love” (1 John 4:8, NIV). God’s character is summed up best in a single word—love.

How did God express His love for me? The Bible says, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, TLB). “God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into this wicked world to bring to us eternal life through his death. In this act we see what real love is: it is not our love for God, but his love for us when he sent his Son to satisfy God’s anger against our sins” (1 John 4:9, 10, TLB).

Can anything come between me and God’s love? No! It’s in the Bible, “For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are—high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean—nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us” (Romans 8:38, 39, TLB).

Is there anything too hard for God? No. God can do anything. The Bible says, “O Lord God! You have made the heavens and earth by your great power; nothing is too hard for you!” (Jeremiah 32:17, TLB).

What has God promised to do for those who follow Him? The Bible says, “For Jehovah God is our Light and our Protector. He gives us grace and glory. No good thing will he withhold from those who walk along his paths” (Psalm 84:11, TLB).

Will God ever give up on me? Never! The Bible says, “I will not abandon you or fail to help you” (Joshua 1:5, TLB).

What will God do for those who have no earthly father? The Bible says, “He is a father to the fatherless . . . for he is holy” (Psalm 68:5, TLB).

Does God ever discipline His children? The Bible says, ”… the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.” (Hebrews 12:6, NIV).

Can God really take care of all my needs? Yes, He can! It’s in the Bible, “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19, NIV).

Does God help only good people? The Bible says, “He [God] gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good; and sends rain on the just and on the unjust too” (Matthew 5:45, 46, TLB). God showers many of His blessings on both the good and the bad. He loves all people—even those who don’t love Him!

Can I be a child of God? Yes! The Bible says, “See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for he allows us to be called his children—think of it—and we really are! But since most people don’t know God, naturally they don’t understand that we are His children” (1 John 3:1, TLB).

It is your choice if you want to know God. He is watching and waiting for you to come to Him.
