Body

The Bible says God is the Creator of my body.  Find it in Psalm 139:14, NIV.  “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

My body is not my own to do with it whatever I want.  It is the spiritual temple of God.  It’s in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NIV.  “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

My body is to be offered to God as a living sacrifice. You’ll find it in Romans 12:1, TLB.  “And so, dear brothers, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living sacrifice, holy - the kind he can accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask?”

After death our bodies will be brought back to life, but without defects.  It’s in the Bible in 1 Corinthians 15:42-43, TLB.  “In the same way, our earthly bodies which die and decay are different from the bodies we shall have when we come back to life again, for they will never die.  The bodies we have now embarrass us, for they become sick and die; but they will be full of glory when we come back to life again. Yes, they are weak, dying bodies now, but when we live again they will be full of strength.”

The body is an example of how the church should function.  Look in Romans 12:4-5, TLB.  “Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ's body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work to do. So we belong to each other, and each needs all the others.”
