We honor all kinds of things on this earth.  But where does real honor come from? You’ll find the answer in 1 Samuel 16:7, NIV.  “But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."  Also in Psalms 75:6,7, NKJV. "For exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another."

Is it okay to give honor to each other?  Look in Romans 12:10, TLB. "Love each other with brotherly affection and take delight in honoring each other."

Honoring parents is one of God’s commandments. You’ll find it in Exodus 20:12, TLB.  "Honor your father and mother, that you may have a long, good life in the land the Lord your God will give you."
