Rejection
God’s children may experience rejection by friends and family. For an example of this see Mark 6:4, NIV. "Jesus said to them, ‘Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor.’" Psalms 27:10, NIV says, "Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me."
Jesus was despised and rejected by men -- he understands how it feels. It’s in the Bible, Isaiah 53:3, NIV. "He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering."
Jesus himself expressed pain over rejection. Find it in Luke 13:34, NIV. "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, howoften I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!"
We reject God when we refuse His offer of salvation. Is that surprising? Matthew 21:42, NIV. "Jesus said to them, ‘Have you never read in the Scriptures: "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?"
Is there a promise that God will never reject me? Yes, there is. Find it in Hebrews 13:5-6, NKJV. “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"
