Reliability

What is reliability? Dependability, faithful, trustworthy, and reliability all mean the same thing. We can learn from the Bible what it means in Psalm 33:4, NIV. "For the word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does." Hebrews 13:5, NIV says, "God has said, ?Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.?"

How do I become reliable? It is a result of the Holy Spirit of God living in you. It?s in the Bible in Galatians 5:22, TLB. ?But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness (or dependability), gentleness and self control.?

Is it possible to be reliable as Christians? Look in the Bible in Ephesians 4:15-16, TLB. "Instead, we will lovingly follow the truth at all times--speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly--and so become more and more in every way like Christ who is the Head of His body, the church."

Reliability is shown in those who are faithful to God. It?s in the Bible in Matthew 10:22, NIV. "He who stands firm to the end will be saved."

God promises strength to be reliable even when other people make you suffer. You?ll find it in the Bible in Revelation 2:10, NIV. "Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life."

Does God expect me to be reliable? Find it in the story Jesus told of the land owner and his servants in Matthew 25:21, NIV 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' This is a story Jesus told to help us know what kind of people God expects us to be if we follow Him.

How can I be reliable when I have not been so in the past? The answer is in 2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV. "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."
