Salvation

What does salvation mean? Salvation means we receive eternal life as we have a personal relationship with God. Find it in the Bible in John 17:3, TLB. “And this is the way to have eternal life – by knowing You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one You sent to earth!”

Why do I need salvation? Find out what the Bible says we have all done. It’s in the Bible in Romans 3:23, TLB. “All have sinned.”

What is sin? The answer is found in the Bible in 1 John 3:4, NIV. “Sin is transgression (breaking) of the law.” That means sin is breaking God’s Holy Law!

What happens to me because of my sins? The answer is found in Romans 6:23, TLB. “For the wages of sin is death.”

Why does breaking God’s law cause me to die? You’ll find the answer in Isaiah 59:2, NIV. “But your iniquities have separated you from your God.”

Is there anybody who can help me so I won’t have to die? The good news is YES! We do have a Savior! The answer is in the Bible, John 3:16, NIV. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

How do I get salvation? God offers us salvation through Jesus. It’s in the Bible in Matthew 1:21, TLB. “And she will have a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus (meaning ‘Savior’), for He will save His people from their sins.” Acts 4:12, NIV. ”Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

If I do enough good things, will God give me salvation? No, salvation is a gift that cannot be earned. You’ll find it in the Bible in Ephesians 2:8,9, TLB. “Because of His kindness, you have been saved through trusting Christ. And even trusting is not of yourselves; it too is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good we have done, so none of us can take any credit for it.” Remember a gift is something someone else gives to you. You can’t buy it, or do anything to deserve it. By believing and trusting in Jesus because He died for your sins on the cross, you can have the gift of eternal life!

What does repenting of my sins and turning from them have do to with salvation? Receiving salvation is a powerful, personal response to the gospel including repentance for sin. Find it in the Bible in Acts 2:38, TLB. “ ‘Each one of you must turn from sin, return to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.”

When I receive Jesus as my Savior, does that make me different? You will find that answer to that question is YES when you look in the Bible in John 1:12, TLB. “But to all who received him, He gave the right to become children of God.” Trusting in Jesus means that you are willing to let Him into your life and for Him to take control.

If I have received salvation, will I have eternal life? Find out by looking in the Bible in 1 John 5:11-13, TLB. “And what is it that God has said? That He has given us eternal life, and that this life in is His Son. So whoever does not have His Son, does not have life. I have written this to you who believe in the Son of God so that you may know you have eternal life.”
